Welcome to the Minka platform.

Launched in 2017 by the French Development Agency (AFD), Minka is an innovative financing tool dedicated to medium-long-term projects in the field of conflict prevention and peacebuilding.

Minka funds projects aimed at addressing the root causes of conflicts/crises and at reinforcing the resilience of vulnerable communities in fragile or conflict-affected environments.

This website provides further details about past and current Minka projects, the activities implemented and their impacts on the ground.

SHABAKE 2 (Lebanon) – Project to Support Lebanese Civil Society Organizations for a Localized Crisis Response – Photographer: Bassmeh & Zeitooneh. This project, initiated in April 2022, aims to benefit local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in alignment with the French commitment to aid localization. It also aims to support the ultimate beneficiaries of on-the-ground projects implemented by these CSOs across various sectors and regions in Lebanon.

ADELAC (Chad) – Project to Support Early Childhood Development in the Lake Region - Photographer: Pepiang TOUFDY. The project aims to contribute to creating conducive conditions for the holistic development of young children from birth to the end of primary school in the Mamdi department in Chad.

DIZA (Chad) – Project for Inclusive Development of Reception Areas in Chad. The primary objective of this project is to enhance the living conditions and resilience of indigenous, refugee, and returnee populations in reception areas in the South and East of Chad through support for inclusive local development.

NENGO (CAR) – Project for Establishing a Holistic Care Center for Victims of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence - Photographer: Clément di Roma / AFD. The project aims to enhance the access of survivors of sexual and gender-based violence to quality care through a coordinated, supportive, and comprehensive pathway.

Objectives of the Minka instrument

Improve the living conditions of populations vulnerable to violent conflict
Strengthen the resilience of populations and institutions in the face of shocks
Promote social cohesion to foster lasting peace.
The instrument pays particular attention to the rights of women and children, and the needs of displaced and host populations.

How the Minka instrument works

Minka finances projects that meet the priority needs of its local partners, over a period of 3 to 5 years. These projects benefit from adapted, faster, and more flexible operating methods. Minka thus fits within the humanitarian-development-peace nexus, adopting a conflict-sensitive approach.
